Robert Gasidlo is a professional jazz pianist, guitar and piano teacher, and piano service technician who tunes and repairs pianos. He has been performing and working in the music industry for over 40 years.
Robert “Jazz”idlo is an award-winning graduate of the respected Humber College Jazz Music Program in Toronto (1982). Robert has performed extensively in the local Georgian Bay area, all across Canada, and internationally on cruise ships. He has recorded and performed with numerous bands ranging from solo piano to big band swing. While he loves to perform intimate and introspective solo piano, he can also “turn up the heat” with some “swinging” upbeat jazz, latin, pop and even some Charlie Brown Piano at Christmas time.
Robert began his teaching career at the age of 16 in the Teachers Assistant Training Program at the Ontario Conservatory of Music where he taught classroom and group lessons in addition to private study. Robert currently offers lessons in piano, guitar and accordion, as well as vocal accompaniment, and band/ensemble coaching. His 40 years of experience has helped him to develop a variety of effective teaching/coaching techniques and methodologies. As a result, he can custom design a lesson program to specifically meet your needs. Robert can focus your training on traditional conservatory study, a more theoretical understanding of how music is constructed, or learning “by ear” and intuition. Whatever path you choose, Robert can help you determine which teaching method will serve you best. Specialization in various music genres such as rock or jazz is also offered.
Robert also serves as a piano technician. His professional experience performing and teaching give him additional and deeper musical knowledge that translates to a greater sensitivity to the needs of his clients. He has been tuning in Grey/Bruce/Simcoe since 2000 and has been the official piano tuner for the Grey/Bruce Catholic and Public School Boards since 2007.
Robert is new to Wasaga Beach where he lives with his loving partner and biggest fan, Rosanne. They keep busy with their combined five children (ages 17,17,16,14,12). They love the Georgian Bay area and actively hike, cross country ski, bike and spend time at the beach.
